spider plant

A friend gave me a small spider plant with one “baby.” I had it on a west-facing window sill above my heater/air conditioner. Several leaves have died off in the two weeks since I got got it. I moved it out of the window but it is still not happy. Right now the soil is dry….how often should it be watered? Should it be kept damp or dry out between waterings? Kept in west window or not? Should I water it with bottled water or tap water or tap water that has sat out for 24 hrs? THANKS!!

I would advise keeping your potted Spider Plant away from either an air conditioner or heater vent.
A window with bright but indirect light is best.
Spider Plants can be sensitive to tap water, so distilled water is good.
Allow the soil to dry between waterings.
