a peach tree

I purchased a peach tree that is about 8′ tall. I would like to create scaffolding shape with three or four limbs starting at about three feet but the base of the tree is about 2″ diameter and where I want to cut the trunk off the diameter is 1 1/2″ in diameter. I will be cutting the top 5′ of the tree off won’t that kill the tree?

This kind of pruning will want to be done when the tree is a little younger. That is a lot of tree to be cutting off at one time. I would have to suggest cutting much less than that off, then tying the larger growth down until it retains that shape.
