a particular plant

What is the name of the plant that grows bushy, fan like leaves (green), and has stem with spots on them like snake skin. It lies dormant during winter months but re-appears in the late spring. It is a pretty leafy green plant and multiplies each year. Help? Someone told me that it is a snake plant but not so. Thanks for your info.

While it COULD be a Peony Leaf Voodoo Lily (sometimes called the Elephant Foot Yam), I am not able to make a definite identification from your description. Can you give more detail? Growing zone, environment where this plant is found? Is this a perennial garden plant or a wild woodland flower?
