A Border Plant That Takes Full Sun

I have a garden bed beside my BBQ area. It is about 6 meters long and 300mm wide. I want to grow something there that takes hot afternoon sun. I prefer something like cordyline, although does not grow too wide. Do you have any suggestions? Not a plant with flowers.

Monkeygrass is commonly used for this purpose. They do get flowers for a short period, but they tend to be small.

Mondo grass is another option. The black variety can be quite striking.
