Q.Trimming Hibiscus Bushes

Anonymous added on November 6, 2010 | Answered

I trimmed two hibiscus bushes last spring (we live in southern Iowa, and I think it was probably late May) and neither of them has bloomed since then. Is there anything I can do so that they will bloom again? Any idea what I might have done wrong?

You may have pruned a bit too late in the season and trimmed off the developing flower buds. In the future, do not prune after the beginning of May. If you follow this, they will bloom fine next year.
