2nd year asparagus bed

Should I just let the asparagus grow unchecked for this spring? I have a good number of asparagus stalks now – several are already over a foot tall.

Yes, this can be fine. If you would like, when they are not actively growing you can cut them back this season. If not they can continue growing as usual. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/asparagus/growing-asparagus.htm [1]
