Hydrangeas

I had a Blushing Bride hydrangea and it didn’t come back the next year. Is it because I didn’t cover it over the winter? Also, I bought a new one this year, but I don’t know its name. The flower is like a mop head and it’s a shade of almost a purple blue that turns into a pink, and its leaves are like a Blushing Brides. Can you please help me out as I love hydrangeas? Thanks.

It may not have come back because it was not suitable for your area. Mulching may have helped, but it may not have.

I am not sure about the variety of the new plant you have, but it would be worthwhile to protect it for the winter, at least for the first year to help it survive. This article will help with wintering:
