I have this thick leaf and stem vine that gets hairy and woody, lopping shears hardly cut it. Leaves look like a euonymus but longer and narrower. I did not wear gloves so I have itchy spots and bumpy skin between my fingers. How can I kill this plant? The roots are too deep to dig out.
Sounds like you came across some poison ivy. They have thick, woody and hairy vine growth. It could also be one of the plant's kissing cousins, poison oak or sumac.
Both glyphosate herbicides (Roundup) or triclopyr herbicides (Brush-B-Gon) are good poison ivy killers. Apply the herbicide to the leaves of the plant and the fresh cuts in the vine. It will regrow as even the most powerful herbicide will not kill all of the roots, BUT as the plant regrows, spray the herbicide on any new growth. Even the strongest herbicides must be applied several times before being able to fully eradicate poison ivy or their cousins.
I have three beds which will remain empty (heresy, I know!). One is just dug, the other two are old. Is there something I can cover them with so I can keep the weeds down? I hope this makes sense.
You can put down landscape fabric and add mulch over top, or even black plastic.
How long does weed killer last before the surrounding plants are good to eat? I like harvesting wild plants to eat, plantain, dandelion, and many others. My concern is the weed killer spray that most cities use. How long does weed killer last before the surrounding plants are good to eat? Thanks.
Eating plants that have been sprayed by unknown herbicides would not be recommended.
How to kill a weed or tree that is growing under deck. Coming through deck boards and have pets and small children. Tried gas, kerosene, weed killer. Keeps coming back like you never touched it. Been trying to kill for years.

There is a nasty vine type weed that started growing in plant beds all over my parent's property. This thing grows up straight on a skinny stem, has small leaves that are spaced approx 3-4 inches apart. It then wraps itself around everything it possibly can...plants, fences, etc. After time it develops little berries, which die and then these hanging pod type things develop. We've tried pulling out roots and basic Roundup, but this thing is tough and is popping up everywhere. I'm sorry I don't have a photo of it right now. Any idea what this weed is called?
I have tried to identify this plant from your description but have not had much luck.
An image would greatly help.

Pulled some off and left suction part on siding. Can't get them off. Want to totally get rid of this vine. How do I get rid of it and the suction cups on my siding without ruining it?
I'm not sure of the type of vine your referring too.
Vines can become invasive and cause extensive damage to a homes siding.
Depending on the material your siding is, may decide on how to remove the vine.
I have heard of some success with a pressure washer in removing vine from siding, but you can also damage wood and brick with to much water pressure.
