I have several squash plants in different areas of my tunnel, but one of them has several yellow leaves. Is this a deficiency/surplus of water?
It could be either, but unless they are in standing water, this time of year, it is likely caused by too little water. I would increase water to the site provided the drainage to the site is good.
I have a vegetable garden. Among other plants, I planted green peppers and buttercup squash. Both were doing beautifully. One day I noticed one of my pepper plants had limped out, as if it was starved for water, so I watered it. . . which didn't help. I noticed it still limp and leaning. So I went to prop it up and it had been eaten at the base and no longer was connected to the ground. The same thing is happening to my squash plant. One day I went to look at it and it was covered with ants, which I don't know if they are the reason for this condition. I sprayed it with liquid Sevin, but it doesn't seem to have helped. I also noticed that the roots leading into the ground were now exposed. My neighbor thought it was earwigs, but the literature I have read said they are harmless. Would you know what could be causing this to be happening, and do you know what I can do?

This year was my second time trying to grow squash and zucchini. Again, I am growing beautiful plants and lots of male flowers but no female flowers. The few female flowers that do grow do not produce any vegetables. It will grow a little veggie, but it will die off. I do have bumble bees outside too. I can see them, so are my plants not doing right? I have other plants in my garden that are doing well.

How can I promote root growth in my squash plants? Lots of rain lately and not much sun. Maybe my soil has been too wet. The leaves are growing but not much roots, and leaves yellowing and sagging.
Adding more phosphorus, like bone meal, to the soil will help encourage stronger root growth and development.
Month-old plants looked good for about three weeks. Then, some smaller leaves began to turn yellow. Plenty of water. Are they in need of iron, or a specific fertilizer? Planted in garden soil with minimum cow manure.

I read the article on pruning squash. My squash is taking over and desperately need to prune but I'm struggling a little with the terminology. I need the new gardener's version of how to prune the plant. What does 'Start by nipping out the tips' mean? What's nipping, and where are the tips? Appreciate the help!
The growing tip is simply new growth located in the tops of plants. These can be pinched or snipped (nipping) from th plant in order to produce a more compact growth habit or inhibit spreading.
The tips of my yellow squash are turning brown and starting to rot. They are still young and small and are no bigger than two or three inches long. I know the flower will die and turn brown, but where the flower is connected to the squash, it is doing the same. Should the flowers be plucked off once they start dying, or is this a watering or pest issue? The plants themselves look great.
They have blossom end rot. This article will help:
