    Yes, you can substitute other plants for squash. For instance, use other varieties of squash, like zucchini. Grow pumpkins, cucumbers, or melons (just allow more growing space). As for flowers, choose anything you like--this is your garden so feel free to let your imagination soar!

    This is just due to scarring. If you have had a lot of wind lately, the scarring will become more visible. It is still perfectly safe to eat.
