We recently lost a maple to verticillium wilt. Can I plant globe amaranth or a grass listed as Chasmanthium latifolium River Mist in the same location? I found a list of resistant plants but these are not listed. Thank You
I have linked you below to a comprehensive PDF which lists 'Plants Resistant or Susceptible to Verticillium Wilt". This is the best resource that I could find that indicates what plants are resistant to verticillium wilt:
I need help with my new maple. It developed a problem on its bark. Can you please offer me advice how to treat it? I at first thought it was wind scorch but I am getting quite worried!
Can you send us an image and a bit more detail on the issue that your has.
I have a maple tree that has black spots in its leaves and the bark is separating from the tree. Does it have a fungus or what do I need to do? I watered it with Bayer tree and shrub.
This could be Tar Spot.
Here are some links with information to help you access the tree.

I bought a house with a 100 foot tall maple - a beautiful tree with a lovely 'rough' bark. But there is a patch of trunk with wood pecker holes and a smaller area with ant holes which has no bark. I want to make sure no further damage results. I have sprayed for ants and they seem to be gone. Is there a reasonable way to add fungicide to kill any fungus, and then fill the holes and cover the exposed bark that will help ensure the tree stays strong? Thanks Tim

The trees are very healthy with lovely foliage at the tops, but the lower trunk has more sparse new branches. Since they are planted between the street and sidewalk area, I'm wondering how old do they have to be before the lower branches can be removed safely to let people walk under them, as I a a couple that are quite mature, but we will have to do something about the low hanging branches as people walk on the sidewalk. Can you tell me how to handle this problem? Thank you. I don't have anything that I can send a picture of them.

We have a 15 yr. old maple tree that is infested by woolly aphids. Right now we only see them on the maple tree. Will they move to other trees and plants or only maples?
Yes, Wool Aphids can spread. Watching for signs of spreading and continue to use Neem Oil for treatment.

I have a variegated maple that the leaves are turning darker and darker... so there's hardly NO contrast between the edges and the center of the leaves anymore. It's not that I'm getting green leaves that should be removed, it's just the contrast is leaving and you can hardly tell it's variegated anymore! I bought this tree about 8 years ago and 3 years ago I moved and relocated it with me. I noticed the signs at the last house a little but it didn't get bad until the last two years. Is there anything I can do to get my variegation back? I paid $120 for it and I never pay that much for anything because I don't have much money so I'm really quite concerned about it. I only bought it as I always wanted one of the variegated maples...CAN YOU HELP ME?
Some variegated Maples do revert back to a solid color over time.
You can sometimes slow the process by pruning out any branches that are reverting back to solid colored leaves as soon as they appear.
There is little that can be done but sit back and watch Mother Nature at work.
