How do I care for tree after it has bloomed?
I have a lilac hedge which is 4-5 ft high and I would like to cut it down to roughly 3 ft. Will I damage the hedge? The hedge is about to start leafing out now. Was going to do this now if I could. Thanks for your help in advance.

Do I need to be concerned, as lilac bush is only few feet from my garage? The lilacs have never been pruned and are 20-25 ft high. I have noticed cracks in the concrete floor of my garage, which does not have deep foundations. Is this lilac causing damage I am also concerned it will affect my house foundation, as my garage is attached to the house.

I have a variegated lilac tree and one branch has reverted back to normal. How can I correct this? We live in BC Canada. The tree is about eight years old and the "old" colored leaves are right at the top of a branch right at the top of the tree. The same branch below that has variegated leaves. Do I need to do anything? I appreciate any advice. Thank you
Below is a link that will explain what is happening to your tree. It is stated in one of the articles that "Shoots that have reverted are much more vigorous than the variegated plant and should be pruned out completely or cut back into wood containing variegated foliage."
My lilac is 6 years old. It has never bloomed. It is planted in a garden where it receives full sun, is not surrounded by other plants, has never been pruned, and otherwise looks healthy. What kind of soil is needed? It does not get fertilized and all other plants in the garden are lush and healthy (and bloom!).
I have read that it can take up to 6-7 years for some lilac varieties to start blooming.
