An old lemon tree (which has been pruned back this summer and a container lemon tree - new), which is the correct fertilizer to perk up the old tree and to keep the new one healthy?

My lemon tree is in a pot. It has abundant fruit, but some are in their second year of growing and they are still very green. They look about the right size for lemons. The tree is about 5 1/2 feet tall.
Lemon Trees need plenty of water, sunlight and a regular fertilizer schedule.
Here are a few articles that will help you pinpoint the issues.

I have at least 2 dozen lemons on my tree. Some of the lemons have what looks like stretch marks, with that area having very thin skin.
This is likely a watering issue.

I was told the first year that you plant lemon and lime trees not to pick the fruit for you will get more fruitful trees in the future. Is this correct info? Thanks in advance.
The idea on not harvesting the first crop is half right. You should not harvest the first crop, but actually you should just remove the fruit as soon as you see it. When you first plant a fruit tree, it is best to let it focus on becoming established for the first year. When it grows fruit, its energy is split between fruit and root growth, rather than just focusing on root growth. Removing the fruit allows the tree to work on growing a big, healthy root system.
Can you advise me on what to do? My lemon tree is grown in a container, looks really healthy. Have used citrus soil for planting, regularly use Tomorite plant food throughout the summer and move the plant outside during the summer, May/June until late September. I have had this shrub for about 3-4 years and there were lemons on it when I bought it. However, I have not had any lemons on it since and for the last 2 years it has grown double leaves during the summer months. What to do to get it to bloom in order to bear fruit? Could you also be specific with the names and quantities of fertilisers and foods that you recommend? Kind regards Karen

The articles I have been referred to, I have already read. They are not specific to double leaf growth and why I cannot get my lemon tree to flower and then fruit. Please has anyone got specific information for this problem?
Insects, disease, herbicide drift, and weather are all common factors that can lead to malformation of leaves. Most of the time, the abnormal leaves can simply be removed or picked off and the plant should develop normal growth once the stress factor has been identified and corrected. Also, whatever stressor is causing the unusual leaf growth may be behind your non-flowering/fruiting. The previously sent article should help determine the most likely cause in your situation.
I'm unclear as to what you are referring to with 'double leaf growth'.
The article below covers the reasons for a lemon tree not flowering and growing fruit.
