My lemon and orange tree did not produce this year. What can I do to aid the process of production for my trees? Also, what can I do to keep insects from damaging my bell pepper plant? My bell peppers never seem to complete the growth process before they are damaged. Should the soil for growing potatoes be kept moist or given a chance to dry out a bit before watering?
I am attaching links that address each of your gardening issues.

My lemon tree suffers from aphids. How to get rid of them? When I bought the tree, it had already a small lemon but then it fell off. I found white aphids under some of the leaves. Also, it is struggling to grow. I bought a liquid to mix with water and I have sprayed on the leaves. It seemed to have helped but if I don't spray for, say 2 weeks, then the white aphids are back, although in small numbers. What fertilizer should I use?
The recommended way of controlling aphids is to spray the tree with neem oil or insecticidal soap. Spray the tree until the insecticide drips from the foliage. It may take several applications to eliminate the aphids.
This is discussed in more detail in the following articles:

Specifics, please - like, Miracle Gro, for example. I have looked around and only find those citrus tree stakes that do not match the requested "5:3:3" ratio that my plant needs.
Garden Safe & Espoma Plant-Tone make 5:3:3 fertilizers. Here are some links so you can research them further:

My tree has 10-12 small lemons but some are turning yellow and falling off. What is wrong?
Some fruit drop can be quite normal.
There also can be environmental conditions you cannot control.
Correct watering, fertilizing are also reasons you may be having fruit drop problems.
Have you inspected your tree carefully for any signs of disease or insects?
Here is a great article that may help you trouble shoot.

Baby lemons are turning yellow and falling off.
A lemon tree goes through three periods of fruit drop during a natural thinning process. During the first phase, 70-80% of the blossoms fall off. In the second phase, which occurs a week or so later, pea-sized fruit falls from the tree. Then, later in spring, golf ball sized fruit drops.
To maximize the number of fruit on your tree, you just need to ensure your tree is getting the care it requires (watering, fertilizing etc.) and that it is insect free. More information on lemon tree fruit drop and lemon tree care can be found here:

I hope I don't sound like an idiot, but I know absolutely nothing about plants. When you buy a plant in a pot (I have just bought a lemon plant from Lidl), it is quite small about 8 inches in height. My question is, should you always take them out of the pots they are in or should you put them straight into a container/ground? I also have an arbour at the bottom of my garden. Would it be good to place container there maybe, as it would be sheltered but gets the sun for part of the day? And finally, please can you tell me the best soil to buy from garden centre?

I was told by a friend that you need to have two lemon trees so they can pollinate each other. Otherwise, lemons will not produce. True or false?
False. Most citrus trees are self-fruitful and do not require cross-pollination to set fruit.
