I have two hydrangeas planted 5 ft apart. One blooms beautifully and the other nothing, and I mean nothing. It grows to the same size as the blooming plant and has gorgeous leaves, but no flowers. What am I doing wrong?
Do I cut off the old wood where nothing is happening to keep the plant healthy or do I just leave it since the other half is leafing out?
If the branches are dead, they can be pruned out any time.
Regular pruning should follow the appropriate pruning for the variety that you are growing.

I've seen beautiful Hydrangea trees shown for sale from some of the greenhouses. I'm assuming there is a way that they are using to create these magnificent trees, so I wanted to see if anyone could explain to me how this process is done. I love the look of these glorious blooming trees but wondered if I could start this process myself and end up with Hydrangea trees instead of having to pay the small fortune to buy several of them. If anyone could give me instructions in this process I would love doing the work myself, having the end result being some beautiful Hydrangea trees! So any info you could pass along to me would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you, Bornblues!
Here is a link to an article with a video that explains the process of how this is done. It is certainly something you can do yourself if you are up for a challenge!
Can you use Bayer Advanced Rose and Flower care or Miracle Gro for Hydrangea? I thought I read somewhere that you could not but now I can't find that anywhere and for some reason I have an abundance of it and would like to use it if ok. If you can't, then why not? Thanks
You will need to read the label and check the N-P-K number on the packaging.
The link below will refresh you on the fertilizer requirements of Hydrangea.

I put miracle grow on hydrangea plant. watered with miracle grow from top of plant to bottom. now it looks like it is going to die, what can I do to revive it?
Your plants may have been burned by the fertilizer.
You an try washing the plant with a spray of water.
Fertilizer can burn the foliage and the roots. It can kill the plant.
You will need to wait and see how the plant progresses.

Do hydrangeas have to have the old flowers picked to let the new one thrive? My hydrangea has new buds growing but I have left the dead flowers attached. I was told never to pick old ones off. Please can you help? The photo I have sent you is from last year.
The old faded blossoms can be pruned off of your plant.
Why are leaves on a hydrangea curling and turning brown? This is the third year when there has appeared to be normal growth then before buds appear the leaves start to curl and die. This year there is some further leaf growth above the partly withered leaves but so far no sign of buds. When should buds start to appear?
I think this could be mites or Aphids.
This could be treated with Neem Oil.
