My variegated Holly is losing leaves rapidly in one section. The disease appears to be contagious. It involves the blackening of the tip of the leaves, followed by it dropping off. I have included a picture of the affected area. We are after the wettest December on record. This seems to have prompted it. Please help me save this tree. I 100% don't want to lose it.
The excess water and lack of air circulation are likely the issues that have left your Holly with a fungus disease.
Clean up and destroy all dead material lying on the ground around the plant to help prevent further issues.
Spray the plant with a fungicide, follow application directions on the packaging.
You will likely need to reapply until the plant has made a recovery.

My thirty foot holly tree is dropping branches and leaves. For two years, my holly tree has been dropping the end of branches that look healthy and have berries on them. At least half of the tree is bare.
This sounds very much like leaf scorch.
Inspect the plant more carefully to rule out insects or signs of disease.
The links below will help you with symptoms and what to look for.

Have several holly hedge groupings. Two sets have some type of disease. One more severe than the other. The one more diseased than the other is in direct sun during afternoon. The other less affected plant is in total shade. Disease initially appears as small brown spots on leaves. Leaves gradually shrivel and fall off. Plant attempts to regenerate itself but is losing battle and foliage becoming very sparse. Help! From northern state and have no experience in this type of bush.
The sounds very much like Holly Leaf spot.
There are several fungi that cause this issue.
It's important to remove and discard of the diseased material.

Can I cut English holly shrubs back to the trunk and them come back out? I have about 5 holly bushes that are growing up and blocking the view out the windows of our home. I don't really want to do away with them but they are too big. I live in the Nashville, Tennessee area and didn't know if this should have been done in the winter. My holly bushes don't have berries.
Pruning should take place in early summer.
A lighter pruning once a year is best.
Try to avoid heavy pruning as this can be to much stress for the holly and can increase the chance of disease.
Avoid removing any more then 1/3 of the plant at a pruning.
Every winter the Cedar Waxwings come by our holly trees and in short order remove all the berries. The next year they repeat the process. This year we had no visitors so that in late March we still have trees loaded with berries. What will happen this summer if the berries are still on from last year? Will they "fall" off? Will new berries form? Will the trees croak? Will the frogs eat the berries? Thanks.
Most berries are pruned away with the yearly pruning.
Frogs don't eat Holly berries.

We have 4 Holly bushes next to each other. They were planed 18 yrs ago. Noticed in the fall they are thinning out. I am not sure if it is a disease or insects. Can you look at the pictures and give me your opinion? Thanks Debbie

Resubmitting question from earlier today to identify what is wrong with our Hollies. Trying to resend pictures. Bushes started thinning out in fall. Planted 18 yrs ago and have thrived up until now.

You can send them in an email if that would be easier for you.
