I need to replace a hibiscus plant outdoors. Can I plant it during the hot months here in Az. or should I wait until fall?
I would wait until fall. Plants have a very hard time establishing well in high heat and you will have better success in the fall.
What would cause the buds to fall off tropical hibiscus? Once they start blooming in late July-August, there are multiple buds everywhere and quite a display, but there are even more buds which fall off before opening. I fertilize with regular Miracle Grow and then add a bit of Orchid Miracle Grow for the additional acid, per the package and water daily.
It sounds like you may have thrips. They are hard to see and attack the base of the flower bud, which causes the flower bud to fall off. This article will help:

I planted seeds from a large pink hibiscus and yellow daisy looking plants came up. They're very pretty but not daisies and didn't look like hibiscus either. What happened? Seeds were planted in a flower pot.
It sounds like your seeds were mislabeled. Yellow daisy-like flowers are likely either black eyed Susan or yellow gerber daisies.
My hibiscus plants all grow tall but they are not filling out. How do I make them spread out rather than up?
I thank you so much for your information. Presently I cut them down quite a bit after they have blossomed but leave some of the stem up so I know where they are. Should I prune them when they first start blossoming like I do with my mums so they will provide more blossoms? Each plant does have many blossoms. I hate to sound so dumb, but I have never had these before and I have become such a lover of them I want to do everything right. Would appreciate any other help you can give.
These plants are slow to increase in clump size i have found. Pruning back the stems by 1/3 to 1/2 may encourage more root stimulation. They are quit heavy feeders so apply compost and composted manure each spring.
Is it okay to use liquid Miracle-Gro Houseplant food 8-7-6 for hibiscus? Should I use it diluted? I've been getting flowers. Unfortunately, they die in a day. Should I snip off the spot where the flower is?
Many hibiscus blooms often last only a day--this is normal. Use a high potassium fertilizer. You can either use a diluted liquid fertilizer one a week, a slow release fertilizer once a month or you can add a high potassium compost to the soil. Have searched your site but can't seem to locate any information as to why a hibiscus plant won't bloom. Big beautiful plant, appears healthy just never blooms out. Any ideas?
Are you fertilizing? If so, you may be giving it too much nitrogen, which promotes more foliage growth. What about pruning? Sometimes hibiscus plants need to be pruned in order to prompt flowering. We just purchased a hibiscus plant. Living in southern Minnesota, can we plant it in the ground and cover it with leaves and plastic for the winter, or will it die in the Minnesota cold?
