I was wondering how to get rid of scale that causes the black sooty stuff on leaves of several of my plants? It's weird because the scale is not visible to me at all, but I searched the internet and identified what was happening to my plant leaves as what a certain type of scale causes when infesting a plant. I don't use pesticides of any kind, so I was wondering if there is something that kills this type of scale 'naturally'?
Try neem oil. It is effective in treating both the scale problem and sooty mold issue. It is also perfectly safe to use. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/problems/pests/neem-oil-uses.htm
I would like to use an organic fungicide if possible. The top of every leaf is covered, and once new shoots come through, they get covered too. It's a young plant. I planted it out this spring. Getting a lot of flowers but no fruit. I believe this is because of the powdery mildew. I would be grateful for any suggestions/information.
Powdery mildew is a common problem, but fortunately also treatable. This article will point you in the right direction: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/problems/pests/neem-oil-uses.htm
All plants have their own defense mechanisms, so your number one goal as a gardener is to provide what your plants need to be as strong as possible, so that they can ward off things like powdery mildew. Perhaps there's some information in this article that you can use toward that end: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/goji-berry/growing-goji-berry-shrubs.htm
My Goji berry planted in April 2014 has grown profusely, 10 ft tall, but has developed mildew and the leaves have dropped off half way up. Does any one know if it will survive, and how to stop it in future?
It should survive if you can get rid of the powdery mildew. This article will help you with that: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/disease/powdery-mildew-homemade-and-organic-remedies.htm
In the future, if the p.m. returns, treat right away before it starts to kill leaves.
I understand that for other bareroot berry plant, such as blackberry and blueberry, it is necessary to only leave about two buds above the root node. What is the proper pruning for goji berries when initially planting? Thank you.
I would not trim any roots on your Goji Berry bare roots.
Here is an excellent article to get you started!

I live about 2,000 feet elevation. We get 3-4 feet of snow each winter. Summers are mild and somewhat short. Somewhat dry in summer. Will goji berry plants grow here? What type of soil is needed? Thanks.
