For the last 2 years, I get no cucumbers or they come out like little round balls. Can you let me know what I can do? Do I need to enrich the soil, add fertilizer or what? I am so frustrated. How can I draw bees if that is what is lacking?
Deformed cucumbers are mostly caused by poor pollination. This article will help explain: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/cucumber/deformed-cucumbers.htm
My cucumber plant has been eaten away at the root I discovered. What it was I can't identify but it's a larvae of some kind with a shiny brown/yellow hard shell-type finish to it. It crunched when I stood on the 3 of them. It would be great if you could help in how to get rid of them. They are contained in a whisky barrel I have in my greenhouse.
If you send me a picture of them, I might be able to identify them. I can say that if you treat the plants and soil with neem oil, this will help to get rid of them. Neem oil basically shuts down the systems of any pest that eats plants that have been treated with neem. I have some squash and cucumber plants that the stems are splitting. They are still growing and flowers and small fruit are coming on some of them but can you tell me why they are splitting. I also have them in a raised bed.
While stem split is common and usually due to extreme temperatures changes and uneven watering, it never hurts to check for signs of pests, especially since they can penetrate the plant through these splits. The past couple days due to the heavy rain, water sat where tomato and cucumber plants were planted. Now some are dying or the leaves are wilting. How to save them?
Other than allowing the area to dry out some, there is very little you can really do. That said, maybe something in the following article will be of some help to you: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/environmental/flood-damage-garden.htm
How to get rid of a cucumber beetle infestation in my raised bed with cucumbers, zucchinis and tomatoes?

I have a cucumber plant growing in a screened in patio. I have been trying to hand-pollinate the female flowers using both the paintbrush method and by stripping the male flower and rubbing the center on the center of the female flower method. After that, the female flower withers...but then my cucumbers don't get any bigger! My biggest one is 7cm and has been staying at that measurement for at least a week. The first few cucumbers were very small (like 2-3cm) and stayed like that for weeks. Eventually some turned yellow and I snipped them off. What am I doing wrong??
Assuming you followed the instructions for hand pollination, double check the rest of your culture, especially light. Try putting your plant in a spot that gets more light, and see what happens. I bought a cucumber plant nearly a month ago and since potting it up it hasn't grown at all and what leaves there are are dying off. The cucumber plant is in my conservatory.
I'm pretty sure the cucumber doesn't have enough light. You can start cucumbers indoors, but to actually grow them past seedling stage, they need to be outside, or supplemented with special light.
