Cherry tree with few new leaves and buds and a lot of dead branches. I pruned my cherry tree back last summer while it was still full of leaves. After a few weeks, all the leaves fell off. This spring at least 1/3 of the branches are dead and there are few blossoms. I put tree spike fertilizer around it. Should I cut off the dead branches or leave them on? Tree looks bad.
The type of Cherry Tree that you have and the timing of the prune could certainly be the reason for some die off on your tree.
The prune could have left the tree open to fungus or disease.
You can prune the dead branches at any time. I would advise doing this during a dry period.

A low nitrogen fertilizer is recommended for Cherry Trees.
An application of a 5-10-10 fertilizer applied in the spring a few weeks before blooming is a good application.
High nitrogen fertilizers should be avoided and if the tree is in your yard and you fertilize the lawn, your tree does not need any extra nitrogen.
In this case use a 0-10-10 or something similar.
Can you pour a mixture of your fruit tree spray around the tree on the ground along with spraying the tree itself? Our cherries, when they start ripening, get a mold on them and rot before they are fully ripe. Or do you have another solution to this problem?
Cherry Tree fruit is susceptible to Brown Rot.
Here are some articles that will help with treatment and control methods.

My Cherry tree is still in the nursery pot. It has had leaf buds on it for over a month, but has not progressed at all. I also have a Stella Cherry tree which is doing very well, the leaves are unfolding and it looks great. Is there something wrong with my Lambert tree, or is it just not 'its time' yet?
Are the branches soft and pliable?
Do the branches snap off and break?
If you scratch the bark is it green underneath?
This is how you can test if the tree is still alive.
Most likely your tree is needing nutrition and moisture to wake up and start growing.
It is the perfect time of year to get your new trees planted.

The leaves have a black substance like eggs and a lot of ants on the tree.
The black substance is sooty mold which is a type of mold that grows in the honeydew secreted by aphids. Wherever you have aphids you typically have ants because ants and aphids have a mutually beneficial relationship. Ants protect aphids in return for honeydew.
Here are some articles on sooty mold and aphids that will provide you with more information, including a course of treatment:

I have 2 cherry trees about 10 feet apart. They were both planted about three years ago. Today one tree has cherries, the other has none. Why?
Are you growing Sour or Sweet Cherry Trees?
Sour Cherry Tree's mature and began to produce fruit around 3 to 5 years of age. A Sweet Cherry take a bit longer at 4 to 7 years.
Here are some articles with more information.

Have baby trees with roots, in ground or pots?
It really depends on the size of the trees. You could plant them in pots until they are a few feet tall or you can plant them directly into a sunny spot that has excellent drainage. I have attached a great link that tells you more about growing cherry trees.

Can you tell what is causing fruit to not properly develop and leaves to turn brown. The tree is about 8 years old and has produced a few small crops in past years. There is a significant number of fruits on the tree, but they remain small. Several limbs of the tree have had their leaves dry and turn brown.
This looks like Verticillium Wilt. It is a fungus that lives in the soil and will slowly deteriorate plants. The wilted leaves on only a few select branches indicates this type of fungus. It can be a tricky fix but it is possible to cure the soil. I am attaching a link that has more info.
