My calla lilies are planted in a container. They bloomed fine for about 2 months but now the blooms have heavy large pods growing in them, weighing them down. What's up with the pods? Can't find pod information online. . . help!
These are the seedpods forming. As the pods mature, their weight will naturally bend the stem to the ground. Eventually, they will begin to turn yellow and become mushy, indicating they are ripe. At this point, you can harvest the pods for propagating additional plants. Otherwise, you can simply cut them off once they appear or cut the spent blooms just prior to their development.
My calla lilies will bloom but the blooms are green and will not open. Any suggestions on what they may be lacking? Thanks.
Calla lilies' flowers normally start out green and will gain color as the flower ages. This is normal. As for the buds not opening fully, they likely need more water. Increase your watering. They should be watered at least daily and twice a day if the temps are over 80 F, especially if they're in containers. You can also add some phosphorus, such as bone meal, to the soil.
If you cut the Calla Lily for a vase, is that the end of it or do they continue to produce new flowers?
Hopefully your plant will produce multiple blooms.

These multicolored lilies were a gift two years ago, so twice since then, they have come up as described in the articles. Because their leaves look big (about 2' tall), gorgeous and healthy with my care, I conclude that their container is in a good location with proper water, etc. They were in bloom when I got them but have never bloomed since. Their name is: Zantedeschia hybrid.
Your potted Calla Lily needs a dormant period and the article below will help you with that.

Is it possible for a calla lily to receive too much water? The leaves are turning yellow, flowering tubes are falling off at the base of stem and flower itself looks to be rotting off and even when examined, flower tube comes off the plant from the ground as to be mushy (like rotting).
It does sound as if your plant has crown rot.
Over watering and poor draining soil can be the cause.
It may be difficult to recover the plant if the crown rot has taken hold.

I was given a calla lilies that were almost dead. I planted them in my backyard where it gets the morning sun. Within days the calla lilies came to life and the blooms were beautiful. Within a week or two, the blossoms closed and have not opened. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? They were so beautiful. Thank you.
Calla lilies prefer full sun.
