Why are the leaves on my Boston fern turning brown?
It could be a watering or fertilizing issue, or in need of more humidity. Either mist it regularly or set it on a pebble tray with water in it to raise the humidity around it. You can cut the brown fronds off. For additional information, these articles will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/boston-fern/trimming-boston-ferns.htm

I would like to know the lowest temperature that a Boston fern can withstand.
Can the Boston fern stay outside during the spring and summer?
Yes, as long as you place it in a bright, shady location that does not receive direct sunlight. You'll also need to bring the plant back indoors prior to the return of cooler temps in fall.
How much sun does Boston fern need?
They do not need to be placed in full sun. Boston ferns require a bright, shady location that does not receive direct sunlight outdoors. Inside, give them bright, indirect light.
I bought a beautiful, huge Boston fern but the pot was quite small for how huge the fern is. What size container should it be re potted in?
Boston ferns usually prefer to be somewhat pot bound. However, if you feel it necessary to repot the plant, then I would go up at least two pot sizes (2 inches in diameter) from the one it is currently in.
Why do my ferns drop sticky sap all under the fronds of the plants? Usually it is tiny dots of orange splattered all over. Only the one has been doing it until the past month. Now both of them have a sticky floor under the plants.
The plant has pests. There are several it could be, such as aphids, mealybug or scale. All give off a substance called honeydew that will be clear, sticky and drippy. Treat the plant with a pesticide, such as neem oil, and this problem should clear up.
Ferns can be very sensitive to insecticide - be sure you use only horticultural oil, or soap, or a mix of the two. For DIY, mix a tsp. of mild dish detergent and a tsp of light cooking oil (canola is good) in an ordinary spray bottle. Spray fern thoroughly, especially the undersides of the leaves, until the plant is dripping. Do this weekly for 3 or 4 weeks. And wipe the sticky off the floor so you can monitor the effect of your treatment.
How do I care for Boston ferns in hanging planters outside?
Place them in a shady area (like hanging from the porch) and water daily.
