Sorry I don't know my gardening zone.
I live in Ottumwa, Iowa and found your planting instructions very informative. You say to fertilize on a regular bases. What type of fertilizer is best for the blackberry bush??
How far apart should the bushes be planted??
Appreciate the help - have a good day.
Use a high phosphorus fertilizer. This will help with berry production.
Space them about 2-4 feet apart.
Blackberry like muscadines like LIMEY soil. I use a 10-10-10 fertilizer and I use a 1/4 pound per plant in a 12 ince circle if planted 3 to 4 feet apart or row both side if planted closer. I do this April 1 ; May 1 ; June 1. Then I do Calcium Nitrate the same way on April 15 ; May 15 ; june 15.
I would like to have more plants because the berries are large and sweet. .
depends on what plant you are talking about. Many fruit type plants like muscadines some blackberries, etc are patented and the seller's strickly refuse to let people propergate their plants.
I recently purchased two blackberry bushes from a local hardware store, and they came in cardboard containers with the plant portion sticking out of the top. Both were essentially greenish brown sticks with no leaves on them. Thinking that they would start sprouting leaves once I put them in the ground, I followed the instructions by planting them and have waited for about 3 weeks for them to do anything. So far, they are still greenish brown sticks but haven't sprouted any leaves. Should I just give up and dig them up? Or, do blackberry bushes take time and hot weather before they start sprouting leaves? I just bought two rasberry bushes that have leaves on them. Right now we are having an unusually warm spring in St. Louis, MO.
What fruit can I grow in the shade, and how can I root new blackberry vines from my old ones?
I cannot think of any fruits that really do well in shade. However, there are a few vegetables that might do well. Here is more info: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/vgen/shade-vegetables.htm
As for the blackberry, this article should help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/blackberries/propagating-blackberries-cuttings.htm
Can I plant different type of berry plants in or around the center of my dwarf citrus orchard? I will have 54 plants but I wanted to use 4 spots for berries.
I imagine if you have enough space you could, depending on the type of berries and the soil and light requirements. These articles will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/blackberries/growing-blackberry-bushes.htm

How far apart do I plant blackberry bushes from each other?
About 2-4 feet apart should be sufficient for blackberry bushes.
We ordered five blackberry bushes this year. They were pruned back to nothing but a stem, about a foot long, and roots. We planted them about three weeks ago but they have not even started producing leaves or anything. We trimmed off about an inch of the top when we planted them. How long should we wait before they start to show any signs of life?
