My friend has a very large bird of paradise plant and has lots of flowers each year. My question is where and how to I find the seeds of this plant ? Are they in a certain part of the flower and what size and colour are they ? I would love to try and grow some from seed. I know it would be easier to just split the plant but I like to do things the hard way to prove it can be done. Hope you can answer my questions and look forward to hearing from you. Cheers Lee

My plant will put out a stalk in order to bloom but before bloom can open stalk breaks off. Thank you for your assistance.
Is your plant an indoor plant?
I suspect that the plant is needing more light.
This plant needs 5 to 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Why don't the stalks of my indoor B of P have the strength to support the leaves once it reaches about 4 feet in height? The stalks cannot remain upright and bend under the weight of the leaves.
It can be difficult to get enough sunlight and the correct humidity levels for a strong, healthy Bird Of Paradise plant.

We recently moved into a home with lots of overgrowth, that I've been quite successful in taming (mostly...). I currently have two 15+ foot tall Giant Birds of Paradise that are about to tear through a screened enclosure out back. I'd like to save the plant, if possible, but they must be cut down at least 3-5 feet (preferably, would like to cut them down like a banana palm, but not sure if they're regrow like those have). Currently living in North Eastern Florida. How low can I go?

I have a lot of small black round spots resembling seeds. I am not sure if this is a seed or a bug. They are very tiny and there are many of them. What are they?
Seeds of a Bird Of Paradise are black with a small orange fluff attached.
See if you can get a closer look at the specks and determine if it is pests; I would lean toward that issue.
Treat the plant with Neem Oil for pests.
