I received a bird of paradise from a floral company with no root, but I want to add it to my garden. I'm unsure of how to get the root started, or should I remove seeds from my plant?
A bird of paradise can not be propagated from stem cuttings. Propagation of bird of paradise is done either from seed (it can take up to 10 years to flower if grown by seed) or by plant division.

Where I cut parts of my Giant Bird of Paradise at the bottom, leaves have started to grow from the that which was cut. I left a few tall ones but would like it shorter. If I cut the trunk of those, will new leaves start to grow from where it was cut? It is just too tall.
You would not be able to change the height of the plant. Perhaps you could relocate your plant in another spot in your garden.

How do I eradicate Mexican bird of Paradise that is growing in my water lines? I want to kill the Mexican Bird of Paradise and it seems impossible.....not even Round up is killing it.
Since Round Up is absorbed through the leaves, apply it in this manner.
It then works it's way down to the roots.
From my research this will take several applications and time.

Just planted a new small red bird of paradise. Gave it water and small amount of fertilizer. Temps are in the 100's right now. All the stems are falling off and there isn't much left of the plant. It was a gift and really love this plant. Help!

We have several very mature birds of paradise with trunk diamaters of 8-10 inches. They have overgrown the planters. I would like to cut them down to 2-3 ft and have them grow again at ground level instead of 15 ft in the air. Can I do it without killing them or do I need to cut down, pull out and replace?
