What does it mean when a mature pepper is green and begins turning black? Does it turn black before red? Should I pick it?
No, a mature green pepper should turn red. Do pick it and cut out the black area, that indicates it's been damaged, probably from an insect pest. The rest is still edible.
This is my first year trying to grow any kind of vegetable besides tomato plants. I planted several red, green, and yellow bell pepper plants this year. While they are growing tremendously, I can't seem to get them to turn color before they start rotting. They are all the same size as the ones in the grocery store, but if I try to leave them on longer, then they start rotting on the bottoms. Please help!

Discovered two well developed peppers with a solid white patch covering about 15% of the fruit. Several days later found a similar looking solid white growth on 15% of a cucumber. What is it and what can I do?

Can you tell me what is cutting the blossoms and tiny peppers from my maturing bell pepper plant? I am in western PA and have my plants in the Topsy Turvy inverted hanging planters.
Sounds like insect damage, try using some type of insecticidal soap to help control the problem. If you spray your peppers with some epsom salts water (1 teaspoon of epsom salts to 1 quart of warm water) the magnesium will help your pepper blooms to set fruit. You can even drench the plant.
My bell peppers start to turn brown and rot at the end (opposite the stem) before maturing. It starts when they get about an inch long, and continues until they fall off the plant. All 6 plants are affected.

I have four pepper plants and they have great foliage and are loaded with peppers. Some of them, however, are black on the bottom. When you cut them open, some of the seeds are black and looks like mold on the seeds. The outside looks good. What is our problem and can I use them for making mellow peps? I use a package brine and put them in canning jars.
