I was growing basil plants in a pollytunnel, and they were coming on nicely but suddenly the tops have gone brown and the plants are wilting. They had plenty of light and water. What could have caused this, and how can I grow more from seed without this happening again?
Is it possible that the tunnel overheated? If this was not possible, then I would look to see if the roots had developed rot. This can be corrected by improving drainage.
I have been trying to grow fresh basil, thyme, rosemary and chives indoors from seeds. There seems to be mold growing in the pots with the plants (which just came up). What am I doing wrong or is this ok?

I have several potted herbs that I am growing outdoors. I use Miracle Gro soil and styrofoam peanuts at the bottom of my pots. My basil plant leaves are spotted yellow and the edges of my parsley plant are yellow as well. Are the plants diseased? Should I start over using new soil?
They are probably getting too little water. They need to be watered once a day and twice a day when temps are over 85 F.
Does the pot you are planting in need to have holes in the bottom for drainage?
Yes. In fact, ALL containers require drainage holes regardless of the type of plant you are placing in them.
The leaves on my basil plants seem to chewed. This has never happened before. It looks like something has bitten off parts of the leaves! What gives?
There is a possibility that slugs are getting to it. It could be rodents as well. These articles should help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/facts-about-slugs-and-how-to-kill-garden-slugs.htm

I am growing basil in a pot on my deck. This year it is really anemic. It's growing tall, leggy, and more and more yellow. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. My deck has a southern exposure and this year our weather has been thunderstorms for days then extremely hot - 90s. Is there a fertilizer or nutrient that might help?
The heavy rains have probably leached nutrients from your pot. Apply an all purpose fertilizer -water soluable will probably be more efficient- and clip the plant back to encourage side growth and fullness.
