A couple of our older azaleas have blossoms, but there is a sticky substance on the brown outside of the blossom and also inside the blossom. When we pull the outer brown part of the blossom, it is sticky. Also, when we open the blossom, it is sticky inside.
Deadheading azaleas can be a sticky proposition - azaleas have a sticky fluid inside of their stems. So this is completely normal.

Some azaleas are blooming like crazy, but one next to it has black spots on yellow leaves, brown, dead buds and no blooms.
Are these indoor or outdoor plants? In containers or in the ground? What watering and fertilizing practices have you been following with your azaleas?
An insect could very well be the culprit and I would recommend that you examine your plant thoroughly for any signs of them. The azalea lace bug causes washed out looking leaves with black dots (excrement of the pest) on underside of leaves. For more information on how to identify these pests and for a prescribed course of treatment, please visit the following link:

Another insect pest that might be suspect is the whitefly and more information about this bug can be found here: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/whitefly-control.htm
Your problem could also be fungal in nature. Azaleas can become afflicted with leaf spot which can be treated with a fungicide to help clear it up faster.

I wrote to you last week about the azalea problem I'm having with greenish growth on the twigs of one of my azaleas. It is on almost all the twigs. The leaves on the plant are green and believe it or not, a few buds have opened. All the other buds have turned brown. I'm trying to send you a pic of the problem bush. I'm new to sending pics, so let me know if you received it. Thanks.
I am the one who responded to you earlier. I did not receive your photograph. Can you e-mail it to me at questions@gardeningknowhow.com? Thanks.
I just planted a azalea and it seems in shock. Should I cut wilting flowers? I purchased a potted azalea and planted it. I followed instructions but it seems to be in shock. The leaves are bright but flowers are wilting. should I cut it back?
I wouldn't cut it back just yet. How many days has it been since you transplanted it - it just may need time to adjust to its new home.
Was it exposed to weather under 30 degrees? Azaleas don't fare well under 30.
What care have you given the plant since it was transplanted? Have you watered it, for instance?
And, was the plant in bloom when you transplanted it? It is best to transplant azaleas when they are not in bloom. And, azalea blooms typically only last a few weeks, so maybe this was just their natural demise.

My azaleas used to be pink, but now they bloom in white only. What is wrong, and how do I correct this?
Azalea bloom color can change as they age according to the Journal American Rhododendron Society:

Also, according to the Azalea Society of America, a mild phosphorus deficiency may result in reduced flowering and lighter than normal flower colors.

The plant is new. We put it in a few weeks ago and the leaves are turning blackish and the new buds have black on them now. It is sitting in partial shade. Help, afraid it is dying.
Given the presence of what I believe to be black sooty mold, I would inspect your azalea for an insect infestation by scale or aphids. More information on these pests and a recommended course of treatment can be found in the following articles:

How do you get azaleas to thicken up after some start to die at ground level? Plant has only one cane.
To encourage bushier growth, trim azaleas after their blooming period has expired. This article will give you good suggestions on how to go about trimming your azalea:
