I just bought an avocado tree about 3 weeks ago. At first, it was dropping leaves like crazy. I put it in a 25 gallon pot. I did not want to overwater it. I watered it when I put it in the pot, then 4 days later I watered it again. I figured I was overwatering it, so I did it in 6 days. Some of the leaves are brown at the end. I put it under the trees so it does not get over heated. How often should I water it? What does it mean when the end of the leaves are brown?
This indicates a watering issue. Either the tree is not getting enough water or there is something affecting the roots that is preventing the roots from taking up water. Check for root rot: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/disease/treating-root-rot-gardening-tips-for-housplants.htm
If you don't find root rot, increase water to the tree. Plants in containers outdoors should be watered at least once a day, twice when temps are over 85 F. This article will help with watering: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/special/containers/container-plant-watering.htm
The leaves are turning brown color. They did this last year. Is it the heat or is it lacking a mineral? Can I give it a certain nutrient?
If it's been really hot, then it could be associated with heat or drought stress. I would up the watering for your tree during hot, dry days to avoid any issues. As for a possible nutrient deficiency, I would have the soil tested. There are several possibilities and the only way to know which nutrient may be lacking is to do a soil test.
I sprouted, planted and transplanted three avocado seeds. Now plants 10 years after being planted in the yard, they have fruit - but the fruit is loquats, not avocados - I live in Redwood forest, Santa Cruz County. Any ideas? A neighbor up the hill has a loquat tree. Can they cross pollinate? Thank you.
The simple answer is yes, they can cross pollinate.

The tree gets full sun all day and plenty of water.

My newly planted Wurtz Dwarf Avocado (which was doing well) had all of its new shoots eaten off (by some unknown pest). It then developed a fungus disease in the leaf. I sprayed it with a copper mix Fungicide, but it has now lost all of its leaves. What is the prognosis? PS. The pre-planting site was prepared according to book instructions (drainage, fertilizing, mulch etc.).
I have listed a few good links that may help you.

We have a summer avocado tree and would like to know what is a general rule for when fruit might be ripe or ready for picking. The tree flowered in January and the fruit is the size of medium mangoes. Could it be harvest time about now?

I fertilized my avocado tree in May with 16-16-16. The tree is full of fruit. Should I fertilize again? If so, what should I use?
The following article has information on fertilizing your tree.
