Last winter got a bulb in one of those kit with a glass container and a bunch of rocks. It never bloomed, kept it moist and in the sunlight. It would put out a tall leaf and as soon as the second one would start to grow, the first one would drop off. Gave up and stuck it outside where I thought it was done. One day decided to stick it in a pot of dirt to see what would happen and wala, it started to grow. Now I have 3 very tall (2'+) leaves and an offshoot with tall leaves (over 1'). Still no sign of a stem or blossom...any suggestions?
At this point, you may want to start over with a new bulb. If you want to give this bulb another chance, be sure not to remove the foliage until it turns yellow, as the foliage provides food to the bulb through photosynthesis. You might also try giving the bulb a bit of bulb fertilizer or general-purpose fertilizer.

How do I maintain amaryllis during the summer?
Here's an article that discusses the summer care of amaryllis in detail:

My flowers have gotten so tall (30") and are falling over. Can I cut them off and continue to see the unopened flowers open in a vase with water. I staked them up as best I could, but they don't look very happy or attractive. They are big double white blooms.
Actually, you have another option that I would consider first before cutting them off. You could slide stakes over your flowers to get them upright.
However, if you do want to pursue cutting them (which is perfectly ok), the following website will tell you how in the sub-section entitled "amaryllis as cut flowers".

I have a potted amaryllis that sent up a flower shoot, but the stem turned brown. What happened? The flower bud has not turned, but the stem is all brown.
Possible watering issues, to much or to little water may have interrupted the growth.

Is it possible to get an amaryllis to bloom more than once in a year?
Here is an article that will tell you how to get your amaryllis to bloom again:

Can I use sap (amaryllis) mixed with rainwater and reuse as a plant food? Getting ready to cut back amaryllis after flowering and there's a lot of sap in the stems - pity to waste.
I would advise against doing this as sugar water (sap is predominately sugar) can also attract other organisms and bacteria. In addition, every plant already produces the sugars it requires through photosynthesis. That fine balance could be disrupted by giving the plant more than it needs, which could be harmful to the plant.
You could certainly try this as a natural fertilizer.

I have Amaryllis bulbs that never bloom. They get a lot of foliage, but no flowers. I have several bulbs in one planter. A friend gave me several bulbs about 10 years ago because she could not get them to bloom and the ones I had were always beautiful year after year. I planted hers along with mine and they still have never bloomed.
Here is a great link with step by step directions.
How wonderful that your caring for these bulbs.
